This shot conveys emotion, but I'm not convinced that I'd know that that emotion was joy had it not been entered for this theme.

Not sure I see joy in this shot. The woman looks more fearful than joyous, and the child while smiling faintly, appears a bit apprehensive. So to me this speaks more of thrills than joy.
