Fabulous initial impact, but a bit soft and spotty(through a windshield?)

Well, it definitely looks hot to me. The amount, and characteristics of the flare in this shot detract from the image though. I don;t have a problem with flare in ALL cases, I've seen shots where in fact they would havebeen average, but the flare made them spectaculare. But in thise cases it had different characteristics (i.e. more regulare, more geometric shaes based on the lens diapraghm opening). Here it is sort of just a big spalleter of irregular flare all over the place which distracts you fromlooking at the components of the image itself...including that hot sun. Ialso see a lot of noise inthe flat sky areas, which makes me wonder if they were severley underexposed inthe original shot, and then "pushed" up in post processing, which has a tendency to accentuate any noise present.

I'd suggest the next time you want to capture sun like this, try locking your exposure from a patch of blue sky near the sun, but don;t let any of the sun get into the framitself and throw off your meter. It might get you closer to the results I think you are looking for here.

I hope that's helpful info for you.
