I remember my first born. Fascinating. Any reason why this couldn't have a vertical crop? or, at the very least, crop out the tiny bit of baby's cheek that shows bottom left? Otherwise, very nice work, IMHO.

@smkpl: every generation has its own "kind" of revolution .... and its not the one parents had in mind years ago .... ;-)

@king: vertical crop, possibly but i wanted the hand to be completely in the center AND show enough of the texture and shadows on the fabric. Cropping more would reveal too much noise in the film scan ....(remember 16 years ago i could not afford a digital camera...) but may you are right most political/revolutionary posters have a vertical layout...

Funny, I was amused at the "revolutionary" look of the thumbnail, then forgot about that when I viewed the full-size version. Yes, a vertical crop may have carried the power/protest/resist/revolution idea better.

Soft and detailed... saturated AND well balanced. I love it.

I've often been told that backdrops need to be positioned away... look better when out of focus. However, I think yours looks perfectly good to me! :)

I'm not sure I like the crop, though. Centering like this rarely seems to work well. It's powerful but the surrounding area is too large... a little tighter would support the tiny fist, this much is distracting. This might look better in portrait or with some of the left and top cropped out.

Newborn's hands are always amazing subjects for photographs. I like this image but wish for a bit more color, or perhaps a different position of the hand in the frame of the image.

I too saw a political/power pose to the image, and meant to comment how I liked that aspect of the image. In my prior comment, when I wished for more color, I meant the background... to contrast with the hand. Obviously if this was taken in the hospital, that would perhaps have been difficult.
