I think this is a wonderful portrait. However, for the theme, I would have preferred more hands and less of the rest of her.

I don't know that her hands are the focal point of this for me, but on everything but relevance this gets the highest marks for me. I want to know her story.

I very much enjoy this image, but I must say that there is so much more to this than "hands" that to me, the relevance is lower.

I wonder what she's thinking! I like this picture very much. At first glance, though, my eye was not drawn to her hands... perhaps it should have been but I spent more time looking at her head and shoulders, then down diagonally to her feet, skipping over her hands.

She has the look of a traditional village woman. She appears to be lamenting something or, more likely, making a point by beating the palm of one hand with the edge of another. Is she blind? The way she is squinting suggest that she may be. She is sitting rather casually, which makes her look more relaxed than tense.

What is that black panel behind her? Is it a relatively modern metal door? Why does that pole divide the left side of the image?

Do you think it was necessary to use the on-camera flash? and to make the image as contrasty as it is?

This shot has many appealing qualities combined with enough distractions to make me wonder if it would have been better to simply get closer to her.
