A very nice image, but in this instance the selective desaturation detracts (in my opinion) from the image. I am a person who enjoys selective desaturation, but unfortunately here, the lack of color in the adult hand makes that hand look lifeless. A very strong picture that I think would have been far stronger in full color or in complete B&W.

Interesting use of selective colour to highlight this simple and beautiful gesture. I really like this!

Outstanding effect!

Nice image. Not so sure about the selective toning though.

Thanks folks! This picture was not taken knowing what the topic on Weekly Shot was. Just so happened that I took this photo at a friend's b'day party...and then realized it could make a good candidate for the current theme.
@pog - You have a valid point. The selective colouring was done with the intention of drawing attention to the "clasp"...or "grip" if you will.
@Lange - Thank you. I agree. Again, had I taken this picture with the theme in mind, I would have probably gone against the selective colouring myself :-)
@c-steps - Thank you. Such is the subjective nature of photography and I am glad this appeals to you.
@pretorious - Thanks!!
@Rohan - Thanks!!

Congrats on the feature, nicely photographed.
But I don't like the omni saturation at all...

karthikn...I see, a featured image every six months. Nice approach. I think I can speak for many when I say that you are welcome to participate more often. :>)
Congratulations.

This is a very nice picture. I like the crop... although it might look even better with more of the adult's hand and less of the bib (?) on the right.
It fun experimenting... I do it all the time and fail (usually). In this case, I don't think the partial desaturation worked out well... maybe I would never like such processing in any circumstance, though.
