Look again...you didn't see the ghost. Some people can't see them, you know. This image is designed to separate those with sensitivity to ghosts from the skeptics.

Not a church...a tomb.
So...photographica...you can see them.

I enjoy this image on many levels. The "costume" ghost is pleasant, the style of the costume is wonderful and the texture of the print is striking! I like the blue cast especially.

This is one of those images that would get higher "Relevance" ratings if the ghost were more obvious. People seem to like the image and most would probably have an "aha!" moment if they were to spot the ghost before clicking the "Submit" button.

To me, this image serves to illustrate two things that seem to be artifacts of the WeeklyShot system of posting and rating images:
1. Speed rating so one can post one's own image. Sometimes you have to look at an image for a minute or two to fully appreciate what you are seeing; and
2. High relevance counts toward getting featured, and you don't want to loose any relevance points by being too subtle, too clever or too erudite.

I'm having fun with this image and I was aware before posting it that it would probably get low relevance ratings...3.09 with 10 ratings in...although I think it is highly relevant.

I'm not complaining--just observing.

For those who still can't see the ghost, look in the upper right hand corner. The ghost is behind the tomb door, staring out.

this would work a lot better with a black background, but then again that never seems to affect King getting on the front page.

@Ana...I *aways* give you 5's. This is a straight photo and that is a real ghost. Are you kidding about the black background? If not, please explain.

nope, not kidding. the picture is so dark that the face gets lost with this stark, white border on WS. I barely saw the 'ghost' and that was only after I read the comments that there was one. I think it would have been more apparent if the page was black.

the problem with this shot is to spot the ghost...of course once you do, its quite a masterpiece ina its own right....congrats as always...

@Ana...it's supposed to be hard to see. Now I get what you were taking about though--you meant if the WeeklyShot page background were black instead of white. I tested to make sure it could be seen against a white background and that it wasn't obvious against black.

Good job I didn't vote on this as the (seeming) lack of relevance really got my goat, once spotted, it makes the image, purely for it's subtlety. Very, eerie! Was it part of the image or added post-processing, i.e. two images overlaid etc.

@Mooch...your reaction is of the type I was fishing for, although I'm sorry to have irritated you (smile).

Except for the ghost's face, this is a straight photo, with some bleeding of the blacks created on the enlarging easel. For the ghost's face, I recycled a face from image #144 in the Wild theme.
