Would have been a better shot if it was taken when the sun was directly overhead.

Thanks :) I'll try that

If the sun was directly overhead, there would be no shadows and that's what makes the picture, isn't it? Maybe you mean if the sun was at a different angle, slighty higher (but not overhead) then the cross of the shadows would be central!? You can go and wait there until the sun is in exactly the right place, but I've got better things to do.

Well, the cut off part doesn't bother me at all and the shadows are just about perfect IMHO. I appreciate the photographers use of the shadows, lines, and angles to form an interesting composition (enhanced by the lower perspective- which results in cutting off the bridge- otherwise there would be distraction there).
As far as constructive critique of the presentation goes, the only thing I'd try would be to compare, say, a higher contrast version and a version with a slight warm tone to it. Either one will produce a different feeling/mood and then it'd be up to the photographer to decide.
For technique, I would like to compare a photo that had shallower depth of field, with the background blurred. The left rail might benefit from burning-down and the right from a bit of dodging.
All in all, I find it an interesting subject and very nice photograph. It's an excellent picture to trigger lots of different creative ideas and discussions, maybe one in which you could come up with several versions- each one just as good as the other.

I really like this, just wish the top bits of the bridge would not have been cut off.
