A bottle tree. Nicely manicured too.

I like your other composition of this much better (looking straight up into the sky) though it is definitly an odd thing found.

Quaker Bridge Rd., the sweeping turn near the canal, no?
jertel said 405 days ago:
Yes, this used to be on the back roads of Princeton, close to the canal route. I drove past there the other day and it was gone. As I was originally shooting it (a little over a year ago), a voice called to me from across the wide, two lane road... "Hey! Do you know what that is?" I removed my eye from the camera, only to find an older gentleman, who appeared to have just finished a stroll along the canal. I walked across the road and subsequently answered him in the negative. He proceeded to tell me that a few of these had popped up around western central Jersey, in recent years. He continued saying, that it was his understanding that these "trees" have their roots (pun intended) in the occult and are "planted" in areas to evoke supernatural forces... I found this all to be fascinating and had to make this known. Subsequently, I found out that these bottle trees originated in Africa and then the South. The bottles are there to catch evil spirits before they could reach your home.

jertel, I actually know the fella that creates these. At least the ones in and around Mercer Co., if interested I can give you more info. If you drove by his house you'd know it.

the impact is obscured by the dark/faux vignette.

What comes in a blue bottle anyway?
