this is definitely an interesting shot but to me "feet" isn't in any way the subject. if anything, i see "legs" or "shadow" or "reflection." nonetheless it has impact. did you work the reflection? on the surface of it, it's uncanny.

kpaul said 740 days ago:

i thought maybe the circular shape would kinda highlight the feet even though they're really small in the pic.

how do you mean 'work the reflection'? i took several shots (not enough maybe!) and this was the best. there was another closer one, w/out the black on top, but i thought it added something to it - almost like an eye or something...

oh man, that's cool!!! woohooo!

The distorted reflection is a cool idea. But for some reason, the dark object (the tire I think) cutting off the top of the frame bothers me. it's like it is getting in the way of the thing that I really am trying to see.

It probably is also blocking the reflection of your camera, but if there was a way to get the complete circular shape of the chrome hubcap in the frame, and not have it cut off by the tire, IMHO this would be a stronger image.

Blizzard:

the feet are small, but kinda in the center center - and with the circle, i thought it would somehow make the eyes be drawn to them.

anyway, thanks for commenting (and rating too?) ;)

thanks much. i wish i woulda took more shots, but i was there to take shots of other things, so couldn't get too into it. maybe i'll go back before the switch and try to get it again, but probably not. ;)

thanks for commenting, etc.

I like the concept, but the feet are understated.

George said 740 days ago:

kpaul: what i meant by "work the reflection" was did you do anything to improve the "reflectivity" of it in post processing? as a purely reflective surface it just looks so darn good that it's almost unreal.

kpaul said 740 days ago:

George: hmm. i used auto-levels on it. that's about it. (mabe auto-contrast too. can't remember.) don't know enough to be effective at doing them on my own, although i know the auto ones skew it up sometimes.

first off this made me smile, always a good thing and i like this image a lot. if it were mine though, i probably would have toned down the yellow rim at the bottom and the high light on the fender (?), the brightness stops my eye from "zooming" in

neene said 740 days ago:

just read the other comments and my first reaction also was that the insignificance of the feet didn't work, but i actually feel somehow that this image is very much about the feet.

kpaul said 740 days ago:

neene: good points. thanks. i guess if i went back, i'd try to shoot it maybe at a different time of day. i could have toned down the fender, tho. thanks again.
