Oh, this is cool! Polaroids?

"This is Art"

I didn't know that David Hockney was a member of W.S. My hunch is that these really are Polaroids...do I see the partially assembled collage on the ground before me? I see two pair of feet in black Keds.

I may be wrong, but this scene represents the aftermath of Katrina.

Excellent work. High marks.

Bye!

SeekingFocus said 121 days ago:

Yes, flipthom an King. These are Polaroids- real ones... like you see int he movies!

Thanks in advance for everyone who comments/rates this one... Special thanks to KING for puling me out of hiding for one last go over at WS.

This image is from a series of Polaroid composites I have been doing... This was taken in New Orleans, about one year after Katrina changed everyone's lives down here... this was the final farewell to a place I once called home.

What sort of Polaroid and film do you use?

codedlanguage said 121 days ago:

hmm ... really nice.

King said 121 days ago:

...oh, and what's your favorite F-stop?

SeekingFocus said 121 days ago:

@flipthom- This one is Polaroid 600. I also use 779 quite regualrly for composites. Spectra/990 from time to time, but don't like it so much... prefer the square images and colors of the 600/779.

I do quite a few transfers with 669 or 667 (BW).

All time favorite? Type 55 (RIP).

Hope that answers the question!

SeekingFocus said 121 days ago:

@King-

You mean for the Polaroid? The OneStep is fixed at f/14.6. =)

Or in General? That would be f/1.8... er, I mean f/64. Oh hell, I don't know, I get 'em all confused anyway!

King said 121 days ago:

@SeekingFocus...I mean I'm kidding! And I think you know it.

SeekingFocus said 121 days ago:

Indeed. =)

cool idea.

Love the one at the bottom with the feet.

Hummingbird said 121 days ago:

I have no guess as to who this is, but I love it. It reminds me of a modern take on the poem about which road to take.

kadenajack said 121 days ago:

I see we have a Hockney thing going on here. Is that the rest of the image next to the shoes in the middle bottom square?

elpeaton said 121 days ago:

Ooops! I just made this "featured" :)
Well i'm glad, since i find it very nice. Congratultaions!

SeekingFocus said 121 days ago:

@kadinajack- Yes, that's my feet along with my girlfriend next to mine. I lay the Polaroids in front of me as I compose the composite image frame by frame... so that's the 'in progress' shot. In the Actual piece, you can see that some of the Polaroids on the ground are still developing...

SeekingFocus said 121 days ago:

@Everyone- Thanks for the feature (My highest score EVER on WS) and I'm glad to be able to pay along one last time here. Wish I could have participated a bit more frequently in the past! See everyone around hopefully in the future.
