Thanks for the appreciative comments. I'm kicking myself becuase I saved and posted this at a lower resolution than necessary.

This is a Boston Ballet rehearsal of Agnes DeMille's "Fall River Legend," the story of Lizzie Borden.

Most folks don't know that Lizzie killed her *stepmother"...her biological mother having died some years earlier.

This scene takes place after the murders. Lizzie, in the foreground, is being consoled by the ghost of her real mother, sharing the grief of the death of the father. It's a beautifully moving piece. Here's a shot of the same scene (different pose) during a performance:

P.S. - although Lizzie Borden was acquitted, it is commonly accepted (by the Borden family, for instance), that Lizzie was guilty. The end of the ballet suggests that she was to hang.

i think you will loose marks for quality.. (i gave you 3, wasnt sure if you had added grain for effect).

nice to see you back on here King, its a shame its for the end though!

They look so sad to see everyone go!

mtmartini said 196 days ago:

There is a graceful and sad feel to this, it also looks as if it was shot pre-digital age. I am wondering if someone has risen from the ashes to bid farewell. :-)

Hummingbird said 196 days ago:

They look slighty bewildered.

kadenajack said 196 days ago:

It was bound to happen. You can't stand in the bright sunlight here by the window and not put on any sunscreen.

stolenlife said 196 days ago:

This doesnt relate farewell to me - but its technically good. Maybe its an interpretative dance thing, never could understand that

Jeff said 196 days ago:

Art and agony at the same time. Says it all, I'd say. High marks. I like the noise too.

King said 195 days ago:

@Pete and Jeff...it's grain, not noise, and no an added effect. This is 35mm Tri-x shot around 1972, hand-held, natural light. In fact, I dampened the grain slightly with Noise Ninja.

@Tracy...I rise from the ashes every morning. I wonder how long I can go on like this.

Thanks, everyone, for your comments.

@kadenajack...very witty--really, I mean it.

It has been very enjoyable while it has lasted. I shall miss all of you and shall miss the weekly challenge to think about and contemplate.

While I am quite sad this adventure (this site) is ending, and I wish it would not end. I appreciate all the growth and insight you have provided for me. I have learned a great deal from all of you.

King, I have especially enjoyed all that I have been able to learn about viewing and interpreting photographs from your comments. Thank you.
