Nice DoF for this image, permitting me to look into his eyes without being distracted by anything else. There does seem to be an orange glow from ambient lights that is a bit unnatural and at odds with his skin tones (unless, of course it is my new monitor's calibration). Well done.

Direct, clear, sharp, flat and yellow. Engaging expression though. I think that the model contributed more to this photo than the photographer. Oh, not fair! I think a lot of thought went into this, but I think mainly that the lighting is flat and yellow.

The lighting of this shot completely blows me away. I know that there's a filter or light that filmmakers can use to create several pinpoints highlights in the eye; how was this achieved?

I have to say that the lighting feels intimate to me--like a lovely glowing lamp my grandmother used to keep on her dresser. It may not be the *best* if you're looking strictly from a technical aspect but to me it adds to much warmth and familiarity to the image.

Hey all, thanks for the critiques and comments. The lighting was as some of you noticed amateur. I just used a few clamp lights and varying wattage bulbs. And the florescent lights above actually created the effect in the high. And yes, it was an actor's headshot done for a local children's theater. He's one of the teachers and he actually uses the Black and White version for his headshot in playbills and the like with other theaters in the area.
