Dang. That looks HOT!

Nicely done. Very relevant. I love how the color is contained to the middle. And the sun overlapping those lines is cool.

pete said 369 days ago:

thanks flip :)

i gotta admit, a bit of editing was done, but not changing the colours, justing using a dodge layer and a burn layer (i use paint.net, its a bit basic).. hehe

but as we wernt told not to 'play' a bit with photos, i hope this is ok :D

flipthom said 369 days ago:

I think it turned out really well. I've seen a few sunsets recently and this isn't too far removed from what I really saw. And as for the editing, I hope we're allowed to "play" too. I mean my photo isn't exactly "natural" either :)

pete said 369 days ago:

well yeh, but i guess some playing is deamed more acceptable than others.

removing colour/contrast etc is ok... adding colour/saturation is often seen as bad.

and you have seen sunsets like this recently?! damn, its been grey here for, umm.. the last 3 months

flipthom said 369 days ago:

This doesn't exactly look unnatural to me for some reason. Probably because I have seen a few of these recently. If it were some sort of texture or grass or trees, I could see it. But sunsets are supposed to be really saturated and I think it was fine to accentuate that.

flipthom said 369 days ago:

of course if it's been like this for 3 months, where did you get this photo? Did "Bogart" take it for you? ;)

pete said 369 days ago:

hehe.. yeh, Bogart is my main man!! and i guess i took this 3 months ago actually :P

I think that fits the bill. The foreground wires are a touch soft, but the control in the bright light is good. The colour is a touch overcooked imo, but I still like it

Ana said 369 days ago:

well, that's a lot of contrast...that's for sure. the wires don't bother me much, but I might have tried to fix that sun burst there.
I think it' a bit over done, even for 'extreme.' Nice composition.

mtmartini said 369 days ago:

Just boosting the contrast does not necessarily make a good image. First of all this is way oversaturated, secondly wires in a sunset shot just don't work unless there is a reason for them, ie. they are the focus. You might have been able to salvage this by using only the top half of the image and removing the wire.

pete said 369 days ago:

overdone, Ana! well, yeh, i really do agree :P but, heck, i thought id give it a go.

Too bad you couldn't get on the other side of the power lines. Some strange things going on on the bottom of the sun. An interesting sunset snapshot.

the phone lines are a good 1000metres away, this is was shot at 300zoom on top of a hill.... i just wish my cloning skills were better, as they seem to have been the one thing that annoyed people. oh well. as the theme is contrast, not annoying phone lines, hopefully it wasnt too important to people
