Interesting, intriguing ... The photo was probably shot for another purpose. Viewed as a portrait, it makes you wonder what a portrait is and what this particular photo actually says about this person.

Another purpose? I don't understand. A portrait, in my mind, is a photograph (or painting, etc) of a person, usually only depicting the head and shoulders. This shot was actually a recent post on my photoblog Blink, and the captions and comments there went into what this look might be saying about her, or not saying.
