It's a interesting subject.

A couple of things you might consider are to put a border around it to stop it from bleeding into out on the top left, consider more selective focus or burning to remove the distraction of the other people in the frame.

Too bad his face is in shadow, particularly his eyes. Also, the person in the background and the shoulder in the left distract a bit too much for me. Otherwise, seems like the kind of face that's begging to be photographed.

I wish the medals were all the way in the frame, and maybe the lighting a bit less shadow on his face, but other than that, excellent portrait of someone who has seen much!

Tommy, I actually shot this one from the hip as I was standing right near him, didn't want to seem intrusive (i guess) and the first thing I noticed when I loaded to PC, is the medals not being in shot, so I totally agree with you.
