i think this could have made a wonderful portrait of this little girl and her bloodly mouth. it had an immediate impact with me seeing that blood. but the 'dead center' composition really distracts, for me. i could see a vertical shot, stopped down to blur out the distracting background.

If you drift the shot a little to the right or left and have the girl not look directly into the lens, you can change the dead center effect. My attention seems to be drawn to her nose. Keep posting!

Ouch! Yes it is dramatic, but too much of a snapshot.

yikes! poor girl!!

That's dramatic! And we need some colour on the front page.

Ouch

This seems more like a snapshot of life than a dramatic portrait

Poor thing - isn't losing your teeth weird when you think back on it! I agree this is a dramatic portrait, but it falls down in ratings on composition and technique for me.

adamsphoto said 854 days ago:

Agreed - the photo plays more as "snapshot" and less as "portrait" - and it's not an exquisitely captured image either. But, that blood is still pretty arresting. That head-on gaze makes her into a bloody mouthed monster.

Great shot, a little disturbing.
