classic portrait. image quality seems a bit soft. i would like to see more detail/sharpness. excellent use of light to bring out the character in his face.

What an interesting character. He is a great subject, with a great expression. Excellent lighting and great detail in his face. Impact is reduced due to the composition. Being dead-centre in the frame he seems a little lost. A tighter crop, particularly on the left would help. Nice though.

nice overall - I find the blowouts on the hair and face distracting

Not sure about the composition - the angle he is staring at doesn't seem right to me, and the lighting seems too bright on that one side of his face for the rest of the shot to carry. It is dramatic though.

WHO is this guy?

themetree said 802 days ago:

its my dad. i thought about cropping tighter on his face but i chose this compostion because, i felt his folded arms were important to the image. thanks for the comments though!

hard for me to rate this one - like the simplicity of it but wished i could see an actual print (looks like film). the highlights are a little off, compared to the detail in the shadows.

Good shot, esp. considering you've got a subject in a dark sweater in front of a dark background. Lot's of detail.
