Superb portrait - I love these old guys with the wrinkly faces - great DOF

Fantastic! I love the details in the subject's face -- all the wrinkles, stubble, etc. Great DOF, too.

This is a wonderful shot. It does however seem that his nose is in sharper focus than his eyes, I would have prefered it the other way around.

Every line, no doubt, tells its own dramatic story. Incredible image.

The DOF is almost too much here. I think I could stand for more of the face to be just a tad sharper... but that's a really really minor complaint. Stunning work!!

Beautiful eyes

I bet I'm not the only one who really likes this. :)

I do wish the focus was on his eyes rather than his forehead... there's just something about eyes that really connects people together.

Anyhow, I'm sure we'll see this on the homepage in the next day or so.

I've always loved this one, Miles...well deserved feature.

Lange said 833 days ago:

To me, the feature that adds that special touch is the ambiguity of the beard/moustache stubble. It is imperfect in terms of length, pattern, and texture. It is not "coifed" like stubble in an actor would be... all uniform. That aspect of the photo makes it stand out to me.

Yep, the eyes are a window to the soul and this one shows that. Maybe we have no idea of his life, but I'm sure we all read in to it. Fantasic!

Wonderful exposure, and certainley there is a mastery of the DOF in this shot, but I would like a few more catchlights to brighten up the eyes. Brilliant work!
