industrial and boring, but composition and technique are good

I like this one so much.
It is beautiful and dramatic and wow.

Nice shot. How long was the exposure on this one?

subjektiv said 623 days ago:

somehow unreal. fantastic post processing - and beautiful light.

This is outstanding Steve! Congratulations.

Thanks for the feedback. As for exposure, I believe it was about 6 sec at f 5.4.

Nice capture Steve!

Industrial & Boring?! I defiantly wouldn't say boring, its excellent. I love the way the two chimneys in the background are wavy because of the smoke.

Industrial and boring. Yeah, during the day and shot by a bad photogrpaher maybe.

Can I ask, you got the light to twinkle but didn't burn the detail. How did you manage that? Would be very interested to know. I think this is one of the most perfect night shots that I have ever seen.

Hey Mooch - nothing special to get that look in the lights - I think it's from the blades on the aperture and it's not all the time. Most of the time it is long exposures and possibly small apertures that do it. In my comment above I got the info wrong so here is the correct exif: 25 sec, f13, iso100 with an canon EF 70-300@180mm. Thanks again for the comments, Steve.

I don't think industrial is boring, particularly not here. Motion, light, depth, color, intrigue, shape, repetition, line, detail... my eyes can't stop wandering. Beautiful!

Thanks for getting back to me Steve. My comment still stands. My parents live in Wales near (well, you know, in proximity, not, next to) an oil refinery, I will attempt this when I go home for Christmas, if it doesn't turn out right I will hold you, personally, responsible!
