dramatic . . . cactus! (great lighting too)

I like this shot and its soft, warm light. But, to me, it fits the theme but really strongly.

Theme aside, the low camera position making the cactus so tall is great. I might even go for lower. I don't care for the bush intruding from the right, but moving right and panning left to eliminate it would have also detracted from the sky. Perhaps moving left and panning right to include more of it (and more of the best part of the sky) would have worked?

Like an Arizon Highways cover shot. Did you consider moving just a little right or left so the arms of the cactus didn't overlap quite so much.
