Why don't you crop the left side?

I tried cropping the left side, but decided I liked having the narrow strip because it helped frame the sailboat and added DoF. It also oriented the gate to the building. It was a judgment call. Normally I'd crop; this time I didn't.

The colors, composition, and graphical quality to this image make it stand out. The light to me isn't dramatic but the photo does grab my attention amidst the thumbnails of other images.
