fantastic. did you take this just for the theme?

Ana said 242 days ago:

Just looking at this again, and didn't notice that yellow patch under her arm. If that colour were in a few more places on the wall, it might work, but just that touch there might be better removed. Also, wondering why you left that wall tilted to the left?
Anyway, I got so giddy seeing such a great shot, I just looked at it, and didn't LOOK at it.

VernonTrent said 242 days ago:

aba, you should look better :-))))

there are more "spots" with yellow.
there is a 2,08 as well... same color as the yellow under the arm.

we could count the dust particles as well :-) (just kidding)

the wall is tilted because it had a different angle (corner, not 90°, because it was an old, damaged and abandoned something)

cheers

Ana said 242 days ago:

I saw the writing.... but it doesn't really match the strength of the colour under her arm, and I don't really see any more patches of that same colour anywhere else. Maybe it's just this upload.
I realize the the building was probably tilted like that, but leaving it as such, it gives her a weird position/appearance? But hey, who am I to say?

Ana said 242 days ago:

Oh, and you should comment a bit, you know. Your experience is wasted if you only upload and don't share your opinion on other people's work.
cheers.
:)

VernonTrent said 242 days ago:

I just wanted to upload this one because I liked the theme you have suggested. :)

and be sure that I post comments if I _have_ something to say :-)

Ana said 242 days ago:

Everyone has something to say.
Everyone has a reaction to a photograph they see.
Negative or positive.
You're just choosing not to take the time to share your reaction.

Suit yourself, but I like to justify my ratings with a comment.
I'm weird that way.

Very nice image.

dallenogare said 242 days ago:

For me it's really good

Beamer said 242 days ago:

Very nice, even the eyes seem to match color. Good job in a flat lighting situation.

shonacole said 241 days ago:

lovely shade of green, this looks like a professional photo, something you would see in a magazine.

mtmartini said 241 days ago:

A little birdie told me that his was a WS regular, so I had to come check it out for myself. Nicely done BTW.

flipthom said 241 days ago:

I'm curious about this one. Very relevant...and there seems to be quite a few comments already. Very nicely done.

Beard said 241 days ago:

Very pretty

Ana said 241 days ago:

I used to have a certain amount of respect for you, as you've been pretty nice and had some good suggestions for folks in the past. But I must admit that having you post and not comment is a bit bloated. And maybe you don't give a crap.
And maybe you shouldn't.
But if you want to just get comments and accolades, stick to your website. Ya know?
This site is really about sharing, learning and giving ideas to folks.
At least to a lot of us, it is.

Ana said 241 days ago:

oh, and congrats on the feature.
:)

Dave_Mac said 240 days ago:

Nice shot Vernon!

VernonTrent said 240 days ago:

oh ana, thanks for the reminder. I have totally forgot what is this site about.... as I have mentioned above, if there is something I have to add my opinion, then I'll write "comments"... if you expect from me that I should post nonsense like happenend here in this "discussion" here
http://www.weeklyshot.org/theme/on-which-we-tread/featured/42/
then you're wrong.
so it seems that you're following what I'm doing. nice, you seem to have a lot of time. maybe you should look better and would "discover" that I sure give enough hints and take the time to write tutorials and post them (look at vazaar)
sorry to disappoint you that much, it wasn't my intention... and thank you for the flowers. very much appreciated.

@all
thanks for the feedback and the feature.

cheers
v.t.

Ana said 240 days ago:

I actually expect the exact opposite of nonsense from someone as experienced as you.
I'll be happy to take care of the nonsense.
Yes, I've seen some of your 'tutorials' and many of your comments, which is why I noticed you hadn't commented on any of the shots you rated before posting.
If you don't believe your opinions or suggestions are worth anything on WS, then I shall stop believing it also.
You can at least be proud of your features.

Beamer said 240 days ago:

I have an interesting take on this discussion: For the past few Themes, I have tried to rate every picture and comment every time. And NO I don't have a lot of time on my hands. I just wonder what the list of features would look like if every participant in a theme rated every entry. The vast majority of my submissions get 13 ratings, a few get 14 or 15, NONE get more than that. Most of my submissions get fewer than 6 comments, some only 2 or 3. A survey of recent Themes shows: Moments had 46 participants, On Which We Tread had 48 and People in Life had 66.

How cool would it be to get ratings and meaningful comments from 30 or 40 people on one of my images. As Ana said, "Everyone has a reaction to a photograph they see, positive or negative."

I KNOW I have become a better photographer from my participation on WS and Vazaar. And I KNOW that has come 100% from looking at images, mine or others', and reading the comments people write. (Yes, I also try to read all the comments written on others' images). I have been wondering how to say all this, so here it is...Unfortunately most WS people don't write and/or read comments, so not sure how many people will actually see this rant of mine?

taikrixel said 239 days ago:

wow, vernont what's happen here. it's brilliant and no typical vernont shot. i like the acting of the model and the tones...

pete said 239 days ago:

weeklyshot saved my life!

sorry, just couldnt help myself. nice photo and well done on the feature :)

mtmartini said 238 days ago:

weeklyshot gave me a new life!

@Beamer - As for reactions to shots there is positive, negative and indifference. I could go into a whole rant about comments but this horse has been beaten to death on several occasions and usually involved ana to some extent.

Nice one vt. :-)))

Ana said 237 days ago:

Yes, discussions on comments often involve me in some way, but that's because they have a certain value to me.

If this particular shot were posted, and no one commented, I might guess that VT would be curious as to what people thought about it. Why did they vote one area higher or lower? Why did it feature and what was the general "initial reaction" to the shot?
Maybe the gold star is all he needs, but I happen to think that he may have valued the comments (other than mine regarding commenting) and that he appreciated hearing what people thought.
Now, I might have that all wrong, and maybe VT doesn't care what people think of his work, but then, my point, why even post?

There is a value for me, in commenting and in receiving comments. I will not apologize for being involved in such discussions, or for being the catalyst of such discussions.

I believing that I have a certain obligation to give comments, because I appreciate getting them. If VT (or anyone else here) doesn't care for comments, they might add a little tag line at the corner stating "no comments please" and I'll be happy to skip over those shots.
