Beautiful! I would have just have taken out the blue lights on the upper left hand corner. My eyes when to that first and that is not the main focus of your image.

VernonTrent said 392 days ago:

thanks alicemarie,
the blue lights is a window and part of the church :-)

AliceMarie said 392 days ago:

I know it is part of the church....lol I was just letting you know about editing after the fact. My eyes when right to that first and not the main focus of the image.

This looks like a wonderful subject, just something not quite grabbing about this shot. I find myself looking all around the shot, not focusing, not going wow.

My thoughts are, more emphasis on the central subject with a tighter crop and/or stronger contrast?? The lights and bright object around the edges distract, so tighter crop might help. The brickwork and ceiling are flat and hard to see, so maybe crush them out with contrast, leaving only the highlights on the beams???

@beamer
the subject here is the church, the room itself with all the details, includig the lights.
I'm wondering what a crop would do? less room?
if I wanted to have jesus as the main subject, the I would have cropped, yes :-))

sadly, it's hard to reduce such a detailed shot from 12mp (2920x4386) to 700x465px without loosing some details.

Very impressive! great light and exposition! well managed!

oh, I bet this was really tough to shoot with lighting and those windows. I know, I've tried it. great capture.

Ana said 392 days ago:

looking at this again..and I agree with Alice Marie. Even though it's part of the church, it does grab your eye away from the rest of the shot. Unbalanced? maybe that's why?

I like everything about this except for the fact that the chandeliers are cut off and the top left window is a bit distracting too. The main focal point however, is very well detailed and captured.
