I hope it's not yours ;-))
Death of the "objects" : Great take and great image.

Ana said 574 days ago:

Not mine! Found it in an old, broken down factory I was shooting. Was a pretty cool place. Thanks!

When a dream comes to an end...it all falls apart - i like this picture alot

eduardo said 573 days ago:

it seems to me that was broken purposely for the photo...also it is not quite sharp

Ana said 573 days ago:

nope, not broken just for the photo. I found this just as it is! But what if it was?? Would there be something wrong about that?? Curious!!

I do agree about the sharpness. Was taken with my little point and shoot!

ChriZ said 573 days ago:

Woa, what was that? A record player?
Not to sure about that line in the bottom right...

Ana said 573 days ago:

thought about cloning that out, but it was an electrical tubing thing...... and I just decided to leave it as it was. thanks for the comment!

Dave_Mac said 573 days ago:

Dang! No more requests for that DJ! :D Super relevant and unique shot. High marks!!!

mmarengo said 573 days ago:

I find the composition unbalanced (too much towards the top) and not much separation between the debris on the top and the concrete floor.

Tanja said 573 days ago:

yup it's brocken alright! tobad coz i love those old record players! ;(

Ana, Great shot, especially for a point and shoot. The sharpness doesn't seems a huge issue to me. I think the tones and processing overcome any apparent lack of sharpness. Though sharpness is the one final straw that can really make images pop, so compared side by side, I'm sure it would be quite a big change.

Care to post an updated version? Just curious.

King said 573 days ago:

Congratulations, Ana. Nicely done. I like the way you see light.

Ana said 573 days ago:

thank you, everyone. this was a great place to walk around and shoot (despite the floor that was 'broken' in places! I have a few versions of this shot (took about 4) and one was posted in the 'noise' theme. I can't post another version (or an updated version) because I've used my limit for this theme!

I just meant maybe to provide a link to an updated version off WS. I actually played around with it a bit in Phototshop, just to see and it really makes a huge difference!

I converted to Lab mode, selected only the lightness channel and sharpened a bit (maybe 14%) at around 50px radius. It REALLY popped!

Again, nice work, Ana. I agree with King about how you see light. It's certainly a special skill, and I think when people talk about a photographer's eye, that's one of the most important aspects.

"it seems to me that was broken purposely for the photo..."

What an odd comment. I fail to see how that conclusion can be reached.

Ana said 570 days ago:

ha ha. I know, I didn't quite get that comment! And I thought, "even if it was???? "

Dave_Mac said 570 days ago:

Isn't that against the rules? You're not allowed to break record players just for a photo contest are you? That's cruel and uncalled for! HAHAHAHAHA! :D

Ana said 570 days ago:

It's totally against the rules. I read that right after I read........those other rules.
:)
Never, under any circumstances shall you bust up a phonograph for photo-graphical purposes, unless it is directly related to a musical revolution, and has been granted prior approval by the phonograph busting up committee.

Dave_Mac said 569 days ago:

I knew I read that somewhere! So...when does the musical revolution start?
