If I'd seen this somewhere else, broken probably wouldn't have come to mind immediately, but in the context of the theme it certainly works. I might have gone for more contrast, but that's just me and I like really contrasty b&w.

I love the human interpretation of the broken theme in this image and the compassion that is expressed.

A friend at work just pointed this image out as we were browsing through the recent submissions. She liked this as it is a unique take and emotions can leave you far more broken. Also, in life we rarely record the negative, unless you're into reportage so it is also unique in that sense.

If this had not been submitted to this particular theme, I would not have gotten the intended meaning.

That said, it's a good shot technically, and a good portrait. Perhaps just better suitable for another theme.

This is very emotional! I like it very that is not a broken article. A broken hart, great. But after a long look at this shoot, I ask me, is here realy a broken hart in the story? I think this is only a young couple and is talking or doing somthing. Thats why i can give you only 4 and not 5 for relevance. About the strong impact, I hope nevertheless it will be featured.
