Very nice b/w image (I adore b/w when it's well done). My hunch is that you won't get high ratings for Relevance, but my ratings are counter-balanced with high marks to the right.

How did you shoot and process this? and what decisions did you have to make?

broken AND old. nice.

This doesn't so much say broken to me, but what a fantastic shot. The tones and contrast, particularly in the sky, are just wonderful. High marks.

I echo King - I would love to hear more about the processing.

The processing was quite easy on this. Using Photoshop convert to B&W using whatever method you prefer (there are a ton of them on the web) and then....after the conversion (on a full size image from Canon 5D btw)....To really add punch to the shot I did this.......convert image to LAB mode.....then.....select only the lightness channel....then....unsharp mask 14, 50, 0 (when you do this watch that some highlights don't get blown)...if they do use the history brush to bring them back. Then convert back to RBB and use whatever Dodge & Burn technique you like. I use a custom D&B action I created by following the instructions in book by Photoshop guru Katrine Eismann. It is a non-destructive method. Then re-size the image down for the web. Another trick there is as follows. Take the full size image and bring it down to 1500 x 1000-something and go to filters > sharpen. Hit sharpen once. Then resize down to 900 x whatever or 800 x whatever or 750 x whatever to fit the requirements here.

Best of luck. Any questions....fire away.

Shift + Ctrl + U

Hands down the best!

Tom: Ask and ye shall receive! Thanks! (Canon 5D--yikes! As if that had nothing to do with the quality of this image).

SeekingFocus: You're easy to please, aren't you?

King said 574 days ago:

@Tom...oh, yeah, congratulations!

Tom said 574 days ago:

Many thanks King.....and many thanks to all.
