Thanks there wasn't much light left. The sun was setting and the moon just rising.

This is the George Washington Bridge from the NJ side. There is a park adjacent to (above where I was) and the park that is below it (where this was taken). Just behind me was a cliff, so that also affected the very limited light.

This was shot on New Years Eve and almost got me arrested. Despite what the park ranger at the office in the park above told me, there was a security alert that had prohibited photography of the bridge that day. So a security patrol started giving me grief as I was leaving. I had to explain to him that the park ranger saw my gear and knew why I was there and told me that, even though I wasn't allowed to drive in, it would be fine to walk in. The ranger saw me with my camera, lens, tripod and other gear and never mentioned any ban on taking photos. Since there were no signs posted, and the park ranger said nothing to me about it, I argued that there was no way for me to have known and that photography was banned and it was not as if I was sneaking around to take the photos. If I had wanted to sneak photos, I would have used a much smaller pocket sized point and shoot camera with a nice zoom, not a D200, a 12 inch long lens, a tripod and all this other gear. He let me alone after that.
