maybe thats a shadow of you taking a picture of snow from a bridge...but if thats the whole idea...its boring.

No blow-me-down impact, but I like it. Frozen water?

Blah, Blah, BLAH!...Ha! You're showing your whimsical side. Good. There have been some unusual photos, such as this one, posted in the last 24 hours--as if folks are just tired of looking at pretty pictures of pretty bridges and want to post something to break the monotony.

I don't think this is boring at all.

@ drazin - you've already had my reply...

@ King - This is a frozen lake near Lillehammer (94 Winter Olympics), and I saw the shadowcast and decided to take a photo. I took it up from the archives to try and do something different for the theme, I think this says "bridge". As always I'm struggling with quality of image at the end.

Ratings Summary
Relevance: 2.71
Impact: 2.40 - I agree low impact colours..?
Composition: 2.50 - I was bound by the shape of the shadow and the surroundings.
Technique: 2.50 - Could have been better, newbie...lol.
Quality: 2.93 - I agree pretty much
Overall: 2.608 - Disappointing by perhaps correct.

Andrew,
I struggle with "Quality," too, which I attribute to two things: 1) I'm still learning about digital imagery; and 2) Most of my images are translated into digital form from film, most rather poorly.

My most recent image, which you have seen and commented upon three times, is rated mysteriously high in composition--I don't get it.

Ana made a good point on that same image, I believe. If one *must* rate an image, as before posting one's own, the ratings may differ from ratings assigned by someone who was simply browsing and *elected* to rate the image, in which case an image that has strong impact and presence as a thumbnail is a great help.

This image doesn't have a strong impact and presence as a thumbnail. I clicked it because it had few comments and decided to add my two cents. When selecting images to post, I often evaluate the thumbnail before making a final decision.

What I value in your work is your unique way of observing the world. Keep that up and, like me, keep working on quality.
