Hmmm... it is VERY difficult to get a sense of scale here. This could be a brook pebble.

I have the feeling this image is a great example of something that works beautifully as a large print, but suffers from being displayed in small in the form of a JPG.

I can't find a frame of reference to tell if anything here is big or not. For all I know those rocks in the foreground could be pretty small.

You're right. This is a scan of an 8x10 print that looks quite nice. I had some problems with the tones and sharpening in the web version.

Also, though I know the scale is certainly hard to determine here (I anticipated this problem) that is also perhaps a bit more apparent in the print version.

The rocks are actually quite large (even if they don't seem it), the one in the foreground being up over my head. This was taken in the Painted Desert, in central Arizona about two weeks ago.

I'll echo Flatlines comments. I actually find this shot quite attractive and wanted to ask you some questions. I wasn't going to get high ratings from me, though, so I didn't rate it and comment during the week in case it had a chance to be featured without my spoiling the party.

No worries either way. I didn't expect it to get featured for exactly the reasons Flatline mentioned. It was just the only thing I had laying around I though I'd go ahead and post, since I've been away a few weeks and wanted to get back in the action.
