i get more a sense of vertigo with this shot; it is missing something to show size of subject relative to another object or . . .

That's quite the blue sky. There seems to be something unnatural about the edge of the building against the sky. Maybe it's a product of sharpening? I'm curious to know where this is.
groen65 said 502 days ago:
@rosedaddy...you and I, the viewer and the photographer, show the size of the building by looking up at it. It towers over both of us.
@George...This is Les Invalides on a very sunny day in Paris. The sky and the edge of the building are real - the only thing I've done is burn the building in a bit.
Thanks for your comments!

I very much like the tones and colours in this, but I don't think the composition really works.

Thanks Craig, I've now cropped following duncmc's suggestion above and it does make it stronger...and bigger :-)

I like. High ratings. Where is this?
King said 502 days ago:
Nynke...ah, Paris.
I agree with you about being able to sense the size from the image, although movie makers are *very* adept at fooling us with models, using the same technique...may have been the impetus for rosedaddy's remark (although I don't presume to know that).
Good for you to try duncmc's suggestion!

@King...It's Nynke so it has to be Paris :-) Whenever I go I do take lots of pictures, which come in handy sometimes. I can't wait to go back this year and do loads of big, bridges, looking up, reflections, signs and anything else that could crop up as a theme in WS. But first Amsterdam at Easter for water, bridges and architecture!

I like the colours - that sky really pops. A tighter crop left and right might make this a stronger image.
