This was an accidental shot Ana, my ISO and speed were set wrong and after shooting her whole performance I looked to see what I got only to find out I had messed up. So this is my best messed up image ever, and a personal favorite.

i just wish her face was in focus.

you know...playing with this photo and covering parts of her face...if you take off her nose, entirely, and just leave the corner of her mouth and her eye...it's better proportioned, and brings your focal point more to the flow of the dress.

Movement such as this is very hard to capture in a way that is both graceful and compelling. The story of the joy of dance is so evident in not only her expression, but the motion you have captured here. It displays a passion of the person behind as well as in front of the lens.
For some, the image will not be easily accessible simply because they will look upon it without seeing. Wonderful image full of soul.

ah yes, people that look without seeing.
excellent point!

I'm torn because on hand, I like the blur created the movement but on the other, I really wish the face were more in focus. However, I love the fact that the image bleeds into white. meh, well done.

I keep looking for a spot to anchor my eye - but there isnt one
Ana said 400 days ago:
@stolenlife. That's why I started playing with the photo and covering that side of her face...cause that small portion of the eye that is showing, sort of makes you want to look at it...but then you try and pull away. But if that, and her nose are gone, you can easily move the focus from her face, to the movement of the shot..and it's amazing!

When I processed this image I tried cropping it that way and did not like it - I feel that the image needs that part of her hair and head showing to make it work. I really contemplated about posting this image because I am happy with the composition but figured other people would have differing opinions and I wanted to hear them. As for the focus, if her face had been in focus it would have ruined the whole feel of the image.

The motion capture is great, overall, it's just a little too blown out for me...
