Nice idea for the theme...I was thinking of going out to find one of those. One thing that I think would help this composition it a different point of view to eliminate that pole that splits the frame in half and is somewhat distracting.

I want to be the whale!! This is great!

love the seesaw.. but i think there are too many things distracting away from it. a higher shot with a shallower dof would have made this better :)

looks like a lovely park though :)

Thanks! (And then I can be the pelican!)

With the layout of the park there always seemed to be something distracting in the background, and there were only two 90 degree angles to the seesaw (if I could have spun it around I would... hmm maybe it does spin, I didn't try). But now that you mention it I could have cloned out the pole... :) I suppose I could have found another seesaw but I discovered the park the day the new theme came up so I had a bee in my bonnet about posting this one.

I tried other angles, and I even tried climbing the monkey bars... some of the other shots were better compositions but they didn't look as "balancey" as this so in the end I went with this one.

I also wonder if getting even lower might have helped but the sand was hot and uncomfortable enough to kneel in, and I didn't feel like lying in it!

Agreed about the DOF... this is with my 18-55 and I think it was pretty close to wide open... when I got home I remembered I had my 28-200mm in my bag... but I already went back once to re-shoot.

Nice shot. The dark object at the left is a smidgy bit distracting, but it doesn't take away from the focal point that much. Isn't it funny that the designer made the bird bigger than the whale?!

That's a tree on the left. I tried to move it but it wouldn't budge. ;)

I was wondering the same thing about the huge pelican and the tiny whale!
