The image is a bit dark for my tastes. Higher contrast would have rendered a higher rating.

It's an odd way to handle a shot like this. I get that it's sand, but why is it so dark? I understand that it is a simple aesthetic choice, but to my taste it doesn't add much to the ultimate image. Did you shoot this at night?

It is dark because it was a cloudy day on the beach. We got there to enjoy some warm sunshine and go swimming for the day, but the sun didn't come out enough, at least not for me, to enjoy the beach.

The shot was lighter, but since the light was so bad, I had many shots of this, the only way to bring out the details was to convert it to black and white and make it darker. If the sun had been out it still would have had bad light since it would have been a harsh, overhead, midday light.

I suppose since no one here was there with me, they couldn't know the conditions unser which this was shot, so thanks for at least asking, rather than assuming.
