Not quite wide enough angle perhaps? Sends signals to me of abandonment more than aloneness--though I do like the image as a standalone very much.

This is so very striking. I would love to see into the buildings big black opening a bit, but I think the blurred effect creates a unique feeling of mystery and isolation.

The selective focusing really works in this photograph.

I like the focus technique but I can only get a sense of isolation out of this image and since it is such a large part of the frame I'm not sure if that really carries forward. It lacks an emotional response from me and what stands out is the technique, not the content or emotion.

I do like the picture, the selective focus effect, etc... but it does not scream "alone" to me.

I have an aversion to blurred foregrounds, maybe because I'm resisting getting bifocals. I like everything else about this shot though, misty quality in the background, almost sepia like tones, its just that reminder about my glasses that undoes me!
