The first thing that caught my eye was the pier not the people.

There are 2 people in the frame fairly close to one another, so technically not really alone. The one in the foreground appears to be looking toward the one close to the water indicating a connection of some sort, and awareness of the other person if you will.

very strong for this theme. The top, right corner is pulling my eye, and it detracts from the person and the bridge. Otherwise, this is perfect.

Sweeping, striking, beautiful. I love the darkness encroaching from the left side. A wonderfully peaceful version of alone.

Top marks. Absolutely awesome photo--conveys 'alone' fully.

I like this photo, however, with regards to the theme it doesn't fit very well for me. I find that there are too many lone objects and for me that compromises any single object being portrayed as alone. Still, nice photo.

Strangley beautiful...because of the light and the low-key tonal values, I guess. I like this very much, but I'm a sucker for photos of where the sea meets the land.
