i don't feel the theme is really communicated here. i know that there is one subject in the image, but i don't feel like they are "alone". i want to feel it.

Nice treatment. For me, this shot has a little too much going on for the "alone" feel. That's a personal thing but it affects how I feel about the image. Great textures, though, with the rocks, cliffs, and trees. really like that.

The lady is definitely alone, but all the rocks, cliffs, trees, etc. serve to keep her from feeling isolated in this picture. I guess I'm saying I think this would be more effective with a less busy background.

Thanks for the comments everyone. But I was really going for the "meditation, silence" part of the theme, as in the description, and not for any intense sense of isolation or high magnitude "aloneness." I think this image communicates very well the qualities I wanted it to and, according to the description of "alone," should be an easy "5" for relevance. But I guess everyone doesn't see meditation or silence here . . . . I wonder what those things look like?

Dennis, you make a good point. This is one of those wide open themes, I guess. Studying this longer now, and working to articulate my feelings, I think that part of my reaction comes from the fact that her head is almost the same tone as the background behind her, whereas her shirt is bright, and so my eye goes to her shirt which effectively lessens the impact. I really like the composition. The sky is rich. All the lines work well together. It's just the main subject doesn't stand out enough to me. I hope that helps :-)

Thanks George. Comments well-taken and thank you for the feedback. I definitely see what you are saying and agree the image would be a lot stronger if the subject had a stronger presence as opposed to the background. Maybe I can talk her into re-shoot. :-)
