i feel the idea is lost amidst all the sand. maybe a closer crop or shot could be more effective in this theme?

This is a good take on the theme. There is a slight blur at the top and it does detract a bit since that is where the subject of the photo is. I think this might have been better shot horizontal.

Dawn - My initial interest in the shot was the footprints leading towards the figure in the distance, therefore a horizontal shot would lose that aspect of the image.

XXIVXXV - For me a closer crop would just be somebody walking on the beach. The sense of isolation I wanted wa due to the amount of sand surrounding the figure.

Always interesting to see how people view shots differently isn't it.
