I like this, makes the statue look almost real (as in, a real person)

Boy, you like a challenge. Photographing a bronze statute at night is tough. I think I kinda get where you are coming from vis-a-vis the Alone Theme. I wish there was a sense of context. Where is this?

Thanks for the comments folks.
Have no illusions, I didn't think this was my best image in this theme. I'm not getting nearly the ratings I think I should, so I posted this on my wife's urging just to see if it would change that trend. I don't think it will since 24 hours after posting it still lacks enough ratings for me to be able to see how it's doing. I'm pretty sure that's not good news on the ratings front.
jan - I didn't force the darkness at all. It was a very dark, foggy night, one of those nights where moisture condenses on everything. I think you can probably see some of it on the statue. I agree a real person would have been a better subject, but I wasn't around in WWII to capture this scene, so I had to make do.
King - This statue is in the World War II memorial at Veteran's Memorial Park in Pensacola, Florida. It's pretty well lit and I was on a tripod. Ordinarily I don't take statue pictures, but the atmosphere was such that I could almost imagine being on sentry duty with this guy. The fog was so thick that it blocked out the light from the streetlights and passing cars. All I really needed was a Lucky Strike to offer the guy, and we could have been in the Ardennes awaiting a German attack.

I can't understand what good is a sculpture to be alone.

the darkness around the statue looks forced, not sure if it is but it doesn't seem to enhance what's being shown. also, if this was a person and not a statue, this would much better express loneliness.
