JIMJIM, not such a clever composition, actually. I was standing there trying to photograph something else entirely when several deer came running across the road from the field on the left. I missed that opportunity completely. But then this one came straggling along after and stopped for a few seconds. I had just enough time to set the camera to auto and hit the shutter.

groen65, this was taken last winter with my old camera.

This scene is very idyllic and I agree with the others a bit unreal looking. I think the unreal feeling comes from the deers large size and the shadow on the road where everything else is shadowless. Hope that explains why I too feel that way as I'm not questioning your statement that is as taken. Wish we didn't immediately question images validity these days but that is just a sign of the times we photograph in. Very nice image and very peaceful.
