The image made me feel for the poor monkey. He looks sad to be alone.

I like the mood of this shot, but it needs some improvement on the technical side. You had an opportunity here to focus a lot of attention on the monkey's face and head, where the lighting is favorable. The highlight along the tree behind the monkey is too bright on my monitor, and the tree appears to be poking the monkey in the back. The overall lack of a deep black makes the image appear flat. The bushes at the bottom don't add anything to the shot, as it is.

This remarks may be discouraging, but I think you have a winner in disguise here, otherwise I wouldn't provide detailed comments.

No offense. I'll probably find out that you are one of my favorite photographers when I click the "Submit" button and I'll be very embarrassed.

I'm a sucker for animals and this totally strikes a chord, yet something is lacking... the subject doesnt' pop.

This is a pretty strong picture. I just wish it wasn't the third monkey photo in this theme.

You're all correct... there is something missing from this shot. I think the main reason is that the original is terribly underexposed (so I wasn't left with much data to work with). I only had time to fire off one shot and then the monkey left his perch.
