For anyone's info: this pic was taken on the Makgadigadi Pan in north central Botswana. It's a sometime salt pan about the size of Belgium and very, very desolate. The pic was taken about 35km from nearest town; Nata. My last visit had seen the Pan full - only about 1m deep and populated by millions of flamingos and pelicans...
