Really wish the bench were in focus here.

This seems to be an odd place for a bench. It feels like it's in the middle of nowhere. Lonely.

I like the concept, and execution of this image, but I am having difficulty with the relevance. I think I see what the connection is supposed to be, I just wouldn't think "alone" looking at this outside of this theme. Your DOF choice is really cool though.

Damn. This is such a cool idea. I love the shot. I love that it is skillfully and purposefully composed. I love the quality of light, the colors, the contrast. It is so well crafted, but the intense DOF is distracting. I love that road in the background and the empty chair is so intriguing. Its just hard to not want the chair to be more in focus. This still gets high marks from me for being a great image, despite my fixation with the chair.
