I like how you captured motion in the bongo players hands! Very nice.

Kind of a neat street photo, but doesn't speak much to opposites for me. Of course, conveying opposites through a photo seems to be a pretty difficult thing to do based on responses in this theme.

I definitely get the opposites in this photo, and I like the idea... but I am not wowed by the composition. There's something about this street shot that looks like you were timid in getting the composition you wanted and just shot this one off quickly.
I wonder if you could really darken/blur the background to make the two people in front really stand out? It would involve some obvious post-processing, but might be interesting.

Thanks for the straightforward feedback, folks - I definitely appreciate it on this one in particular.
gavingough - this was shot at the home opener in Boston this year during a rare break in the steady crowds.
culberda - there's a great deal that likely is lost in translation at this size and I agree that this has been one of the more challenging themes so far. The guy on the left is checking his heavily laden bag of schwag from the Red Sox souvenir shop and seemed to be one of the many fans in attendance who were taking a holiday from work to go to the game - our bongo man was apparently AT work here since his money bucket wasn't lookin' too shabby on my return trip back down the street.
luminouslens - guilty as charged, and a good eye you have there: this is cropped and expanded in resolution from the RAW and was shot quickly from the middle of the street. No so much from any degree of timidity, but more of a 'Let's grab this shot while it's here and maybe there will be something there later' kind of thing :-) I definitely would have preferred a tighter composition and less front to back separation between the two subjects. I did grab two much closer frames of Mr. Bongo here on the way back, but blew the framing at the bottom and cut off one foot in both frames which was enough to kill the composition for me. At least we can be aware of such things as learning experiences while continuing to move forward...

I like this. Perhaps it's a bit of a cliche but I think it conveys a message well. I like the way the man with bags too heavy to carry has his back to the Bongo-playing man and his apparently empty buckets. Oh, and I've just noticed that they're both Red Sox fans, that's brilliant.
