I actually posted this one on my blog today too. The Story:

There we were at the Elberta Sausage Festival when Anna and Mom ask if I got a shot of the dog with shoes. I turned to see a guy picking this guy up out of a wagon and putting him down to walk on the leash.

All I could think was, poor guy, what have they done to you? It's not bad enough that they put you in a camouflage sweater. No, they also had to add the spiked collar and the red and yellow, zip-up, crocheted booties too. So that makes you what, a homosexual military slave dog? Oh the indignity!

He looks pissed too and I don't blame him one bit. All the other slave dogs think he looks too dominant in the camouflage. The tough, burly dogs think he looks ridiculous in the booties, and the truly gay dogs realize that none of this ensemble coordinates. I half expect this poor little fellow to show up on 'What Not To Wear' next season, that is if he doesn't go postal on his owners and wind up on 'The Dog Whisperer' first.

I have two words of advice for you my friend. Run away!

Thanks for the comments folks. A couple of you have mentioned shooting him from a lower angle. Let me explain my thoughts on that.

He's a really small dog. I would basically have had to lie on the ground to get to his level, not that I haven't done that for a picture in the past. However, we were at a festival, surrounded by people, booths, lots of extraneous stuff. Had I shot lower, I couldn't have avoided getting that stuff in the shot.

As it is, I think I really isolated him from all the activity around him, and made him seem even more embarrassed looking. Though I admit, had I gotten lower and managed to get some of the gawking people in the shot, that might have had an interesting feel to it as well. I guess I wasn't as committed to this shot as that amount of effort would have required, but I did think it fit the theme nicely.
