I like what you have done. The tones on the right side of his face are very nice. However, since I can see the frames of his glasses, I wish that I could also see his eye! Otherwise, a classic shot and a very good use of negative space.

Oh, I like not being able to see the eye!!

What really strikes me, apart from the beautiful lighting, is that one eye that you can't quite see, but which is looking straight at you. Really well done.

well done but i'd hate to be photographed this way - the black takes away all the clues on how to read this face - what's he trying to convey? nice? bad? soft? hard? can't tell. sly.

All fives and congrats!
This one reminds me of M. C. Escher - both the face and the atmosphere.

Mark - you never said you knew Kenny Rogers!
Well...everything what's been said. The rim hanging out there...the invisible eye...and of course his expression. What a moment. Makes me want to keep looking and looking and...

Thanks. The eye, the dreaded eye. I'm always torn about adding mystery to an image. What's the person thinking as they gaze? What's the situation. This is a sneaky shot because the person in the image is my good friend Chris. He's a professional photographer and as such HATES his picture taken. So one night I'm over at his home talking about a news lens I purchased. He is sitting on his couch, I'm in a chair next to the couch. I'm pointing my camera at him and he thinks nothing of it as we were just talking about the speed of the lens. I'm aiming and talking and since he's only illuminated by a tungsten lamp he does not think I can get a shot. Then the shutter falls and he simply says, 'Damn you Mark!' which he says quite often.
His comment, 'it's a good picture if I wasn't the subject,' High praise from my friend! I'll get some shots of George, King and Jarrett on February 3rd!

As I have only one eye, a shot like this would be perfect!
pursang said 638 days ago:
King, 'Old One Eye' is NOT the theme this week and would be a very inappropriate theme for a family site!

I like how the glasses break the space barrier. Cool portrait.
