There seems to be quite a debate generated by this weeks theme. Firstly, what exactly IS negative space. Second, HOW should it EFFECTIVELY be used. And also, how can we reconsider some of our personal views to better accommodate art in general.

This interpretation does not necessarily use negative space in the general sense. Rather, it is a space which contains a negative. So, it is quite literally "negative space" (uncapitalized). It is only a different definition than yours... Not necessarily better or worse.

Check the Google Group discussion about this week's theme if you have not already. It may provide some insight.

A humorous take on the theme that is very literal. Then on a non-literal level it has plenty of negative space surrounding the negative itself. This image takes a bit of thought to appreciate compared to other images presented but IMO it definately deserves to be featured. Also the thought put into it deserves recognition as well!

It is precisely because Ana is not sheeplike that she posted this image (at least that's what I think). I'm not kidding about Ana...she marches to her own drum, belive me.

The fact that this image is, ummm, "terrible" (to use your word), is one of the things that makes it feature-worthy (at least that's what I think).
