I think roads are really difficult subjects to use to denote the end - unless there is a dead end sign. We instinctively know they will be continuing on otherwise. Great composition and I like the processing on this image. The clouds in the upper right may be a bit overdone but I know how difficult that is to correct to get the whole shot to look just right.

doesn't feel like the road is going to end to me, certainly the light at the top of the mountains gives the impression that there is someplace to go

The end of the road - has the deifinite potential to draw connotations, for sure...
