out of focus doesn't work for me...

reality said 732 days ago:

i feel like a intoxicated male looking for a place to relieve myself....and that in itself is a beautiful thing.

kadenajack said 732 days ago:

Why not just go ahead and show it? I feel like I'm watching something on TV that's been sensored.

George said 732 days ago:

I like this. Good take on the theme, not that I think a urinal is an "ugly" thing, really, but I get the drift. I like your treatment of it.

phototext said 732 days ago:

Kadanjack,

Why not just go ahead abstract it ?

The result is nothing to do with censorship, it's about the shape and colours.

sheesh.

George said 732 days ago:

phototext i agree. don't let em get ya down ;)

phototext said 732 days ago:

Cheers George. :-)

kamarul said 732 days ago:

Im sorry, i dont quite dig this..

winetou said 732 days ago:

ok. i'm confused! is this something beautiful or something ugly?

phototext said 732 days ago:

Winetou... it's both :-)

Thelma, cheers.... haunted by a urinal, now there's a b-grade movie plot, very Roger Corman. :-)

mooch said 732 days ago:

I want to read the comments as I cannot decide my feelings on this mainly due to the theme being a little too ambiguous

mooch said 732 days ago:

phototext, you're gonna get this with this theme. too open to interpretation where as I find people like to think in black and white. which they are here, they are polarised between liking it or not. if the theme definition were more defined people would no where they stand, that fact that it is an oxymoron leads to this.

personally, I don't feel this image fits either criteria fully; it's not ugly, it's just functional and it's not beautiful for the same reason. I don't mind grain or soft focus but this has too much of both for me.

this isn't a slur just my opinion, as considered as I can make it...

mooch said 732 days ago:

no = know by the way and also, i don't like this theme

Budgie said 732 days ago:

Cool processing of an undeniably ugly object. The abstract nature to this shot makes you almost want to explore it closer, that is until you recognise what it really is.

dseguin said 732 days ago:

Interesting shot, not sure I get it. Wish it would have been in better focus.

kyla said 732 days ago:

you have a good sense of humour

Ana said 732 days ago:

I'm not sure how this is beautiful.....

Tanja said 732 days ago:

just don't see the beauty...sry

uncommondepth said 732 days ago:

I fail to see the beauty here.

Zenzi said 732 days ago:

Interesting but maybe a bit greyish ?

zulu said 732 days ago:

More ugly than beautiful.

philippe said 731 days ago:

I like the picture, but I just find it beautiful...

philippe said 731 days ago:

Having read the comments: maybe this theme is too open to interpretation... :o)
I like what some people dislike (the "greyish" side, for instance). Anyway, I find this more interesting than another bug, even when it's a perfect macro shot. It takes all sorts...

Montage said 731 days ago:

Hmm, not sure if this is ugly or beautiful.

urbangriffin said 731 days ago:

I like the blurry grainy texture, and the dreamy result. You've turned an everyday trivial object of life into something a little phantasmagoric. In this sense, it is ugly beautiful.

gorin-images said 730 days ago:

I like the grain and the concept. I think it'd be better if this was dead center in the frame though. It is so close to perfectly centered that it seems like it should just BE centered IMHO.

gorin-images said 730 days ago:

People don't get this theme...or they all "get it" differently. That, combined with a more-or-less random set of rating criteria (like a 5-point scale for "relevance") leads to utter chaos ;) It's a cool shot Jeremy...but even cooler if perfectly centered ;)
