Sorry to disagree, Gorin. Maybe you noticed the perfectly sharp spot in the left picture and that in the right only the center is in focus (more obvious in bigger resolutions). This is one more intentional contrasting aspect of the dyptich.
If I wanted to be really picky, I'd say that selective focus is only achieved by the use of dedicated selective focus lenses/filters, but that was not mentioned in the theme's definition.

Maybe the selective focus is more obvious in the larger versions that you have. Unlike many of the other entries in this week's theme, at this size/resolution you have to look pretty hard to see it here.
Now that I read your comment, I see what you're talking about. However, I think that if it requires reading a write-up to understand the relevance, then the entry is at best "borderline" on relevance. The theme description says "Shoot wide open and focus in on what you think is the most important part of your subject/composition." Maybe, after reading a detailed explanation, I can see that in the left image, but to me, it isn't evident in the right side image (where the corners a slightly out of focus, but still clear enough to be easily discernable).
There are a large number of other submissions this week, where selective focus is the first thing that hits you, without the need for further detailed analysis. So I stand by my previous comment about relevance.
I am glad you responded because I now understand why you thought this was a highly relevant entry, and also, you called my attention to details that I missed on my initial review of the shot. And BTW, relevant or not..this is a very cool dyptich.

This is quite beautifull and a great combination. Fabulous image.

Well, this is an interesting dyptich, but neither of the images in the dyptich are examples of "selective focus" One image has everything out of focus and rendered as specular highlights. The other has everything in crisp sharp focus. Selecive focus is when a specifi part of ONE image is in sharp focus and the rest of it is blurred out which makes the in-focus subject stand out.
So this is interesting, but not relevant to the theme.
