Its a shame the focus isnt consistent in this shot, even if it had only caught the lower petals it would have looked better to me. The center is nicely captured though

I find this composition to be a tad too tight on the top and bottom and I'd love for the shadows to show a bit more 'black' in them.
But a great shot, otherwise.

I cropped it tight which made the image look better then the original but yeah I agree I went a bit too tight. I'll have to work out how to put more black into things. There's not much processing involed here.

Fantastic. Great use of DOF and light.

very nice contrast between pure whites and black.

i just wish the background was totally black, as this would have helped to make the contrast 'extreme'. and the dof is ever slightly too shallow i think, as the middle of the flower is lacking sharpness.

I do like this for relevance. I wish the petals in front were more in focus. They're a bit distracting. Otherwise, nice.

need macro, you got a good choice for the dof

Wonderfully effective use of B&W and shadow. The capture has an almost 1940's detective film aura about it. Or, better yet, the contrasts... B&W, light & dark, sharp focus/hazy focus... give me a feel that would make this image be perfect for a "Twilight Zone" episode. I mean this in a very positive manner. To me, the filming style used on the original "Twilight Zone" television series of the 1960s represents the pinnacle of what was done artistically with black and white film over television. Beautiful!

Very relevant, very pretty. I like how even with very strong contrast, the image still feels soft and inviting. Very nice job!
